Advice on how to block a family member from emailing, but retain the contact info.?

Hi, Thanks for reading. Heres my dilema, I have an extended family member that is emailing me alot - ( several times a day)

19 + times since the first of the month. The e-mails are those cheezy chain letters with angels and puppies ... or the like.

I know that I could just hit the spam button , but I'm not sure if this action would result in them getting a notice that I considered them "spam" material.

This person is an extended "family member" , but not someone I speak to often - usually at weddings, funerals and large family gatherings. They are having health problems and probably just sitting at home bored , but I use the email they are sending these to for business and it is really getting to be a problem.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this situation with out offending them?
Advice on how to block a family member from emailing, but retain the contact info.?
When you hit the Spam button from a certain email, the other mails from same address are supposed to land on the bulk folder.

But you can manually block mail from specific address.

Note: all mails from that address will be deleted on the way and will never reach your mail box.

How do I block mail from a specific sender? Can I un-block it later?

Yahoo! Mail makes it easy to block unwanted messages from a known address. It's just as easy to remove the block if you want to.

Here's how to add a block to an email address:

Click Options in the upper-right corner of your Yahoo! Mail page.

From the list on the left, click Spam.

In the middle of this page, in the space provided in the "Blocked Addresses" section, enter the email address from which you don't want to receive mail.

Click Add.

The address now appears on your list of blocked addresses.

Yahoo! Mail offers up to 500 blocked email addresses. You can see how many of your blocked addresses you're using beside the list – for example, “4 of 500 used”.

You can also un-block addresses whenever you want.

To remove a block from an address:

From the Blocked Addresses list, click the address you wish to remove.

Click Remove beside your the Blocked Addresses list.

After removing an address from your Blocked Addresses list, you'll be able to receive mail from that address.
Reply:Set up a filter and have them redirected to a new folder. Create a folder for them, then click Options %26gt; Filters and set one up. You can do one using the "from" info. It won't block it, but it will separate it and then you can just mass delete them if you want.

Either that or create another email address and have them use that one.
Reply:May I suggest that you open a separate free e-mail account just for personal messages like what you mentioned in your querry. You can then request all your personal contacts to add this new email address for further email messages. You can then keep your other email address free of personal messages thus giving you more option as to when your free to check less important messages at the same time decongesting your email address allocated for business purposes.

Is there anyway to block a contact from emailing and sending offline and online im messages? If someone know,

Take them off your IM list of Buddy's.

I think when the IM message appears there may be a block button on it somewhere too.

As for the e-mail I don't know but there is a way to do it.

Is it wrong or bad to be emailing a professor who taught you about 2 years ago?

me and this professor who i used to have email once a couple months even though she was my teacher about 2 years ago, it that wrong, do you guys still keep in touch w/ past teachers.

side note: she is super hot and has a model body
Is it wrong or bad to be emailing a professor who taught you about 2 years ago?
heck no. unless ur stalking her.
Reply:If she is emailing you back, then it sounds perfectly okay. If she didn't want to stay in touch with you, it would be easy enough to ignore your emails! So if both you and she are enjoying the conversation, what's the harm? You can never have too many friends and mentors.

Is it possibly to have a T-Mobile sidekick just for instant messaging and emailing?

i already have a cell phone i just want the sidekick for those purposes only.
Is it possibly to have a T-Mobile sidekick just for instant messaging and emailing?
yes just get the sidekick data plans thats only for IM with aim and email.
Reply:yeah. with the sidekick, they have a plan only for that, and if you want to call and stuff you have to buy another plan. lucky for you.

How to get helpful answers when emailing Yahoo?

I work for a rather large web hosting company and every time I email Yahoo! about an email problem, I get nothing but autoresponders. It wouldn't be bad if it were just one but I get the same one every time, even when responding or providing completely different information.

I fill out all the forms as completely as possible yet, I get nothing. Does anyone know of ways of getting USEFUL answers out of the Yahoo! help robots?
How to get helpful answers when emailing Yahoo?
My first answer or two is often an autoresponder, but after a couple of email replies in the same thread, I usually finally get a real person.

So, all I can say is be a little more patient/persistent.

Best of luck!

Cheap, reliable blackberry for just emailing?

I am just looking for a very basic, stripped down blackberry to use only for emailing. Can anyone recommend a model or plan? How cheap can I do this for?

Thanks!
Cheap, reliable blackberry for just emailing?
I would recommend getting a BlackBerry 8700g device from T-Mobile. If you go with T-Mobile you can get a data plan for $30 a month that will allow for unlimited data and e-mail. You may even be able to find a refurbished 8700g device for cheaper than what T-Mobile is selling theirs for ($99 after rebate and 2 year agreement).
Reply:Blackberry wouldn't be cheap regardless if you got the phone for cheap. With blackberry you have to use there server to use email...which strats at 39.99...Just depends on what cell service you have. Most have other great PDA phones that you do not have to pay for blackberry service. I have worked in the cell industry for a long time and HATE blackberry...I prefer Palm Treo or something with Window's mobile. My husband has a Palm Treo 680 which has Palm OS email and he connects to his outlook. I have a windows device which I can do the same thing. Blackberrys are costly...but it just depends on what you prefer....EBAY has them for pretty cheap or craigslist.com
Reply:Good luck hunting. The BB is designed for business types. It is neither cheat nor stripped down.

Hope that helps

Any ideas on what to write when emailing my boss for a permanant position?
Do NOT send an E mail. Write a letter and deliver it to him in person. Explain the contents and the reasons you wish to stay and then give him the time to read your letter and make a decision.
Reply:You must grabed the bull by it's horns.. don't send an email, tell your boss you would like to have a meeting.. and then tell him/her face to face how do you feel about the company, your position and ask what are the probabilities of you staying ppermanent

How do I stop my email and open a new one? or how can I block someone i do not want emailing me? thank you?
If you are using Yahoo mail, just check the mail and click Spam, it will automotically add to your block list.

Also, if you want another email, you don't have to cancle the old one, just apply for another one. If you don't use your old email for very long time, Yahoo will automotically delete the email. :)

YOu can try Hotmail, but i recomment you to apply for a new Yahoo mail, Yahoo has the best email.

I hope my information was helpful :)
Reply:Click on an e-mail they send you then click on spam.
Reply:Are you using a webmail interface? If so you can add the address to spam or even block it depending on which site you are using. If you are using a client like outlook there are several programs you can download to block. One of the best is spambayes.
Reply:Depending on your email program

There are options to filter out certain emails

You can filter a email address and put it straight in the deleted folder
Reply:Go to Help and delete your current account. Or just make a new one, and don't operate your previous account. Don't let the person bothering you know the new ID.

Is Emailing teachers about homework weird?

When i'm absent from class, I always email my teacher asking him if he can send me anything I missed via-email. It's less time-consuming then going to visit him, since I don't have the time in school to search him down.

someone I know thinks its weird.....just wondering what your thoughts on this are.
Is Emailing teachers about homework weird?
Not weird at all.

I do that all the time when I miss class.

:]

It's called being R.E.S.P.O.N.S.I.B.L.E. Haha.

:]
Reply:If the teacher in question is agreeable to being emailed about missed classes or homework, then by no means is it "weird". It is better to know what you have to catch up on than to remain in the dark and have an overload of work.
Reply:It completely depends on the teacher. There's nothing weird about it. Email is the most used and appropriate form of communication in modern times, so why wouldn't you use it? Just ask your teacher what he/she prefers.
Reply:Nope. Happens all the time. Just keep it impersonal and on the topic of the class and it's perfectly normal.
Reply:def. not weird. emailing teachers has become quite common to receive work, or even help from time to time. i do it all the time
Reply:I dont think it is wierd at all. Personally that would not be what I would do.
Reply:no as long as it goes no further than school work

I keep getting a 5.1.0 Unknown address 550 error when emailing schools. How do I get through?

I keep getting a 5.1.0 Unknown address 550 error when emailing schools. How do I get through?
go tough the local board of education then acces the school u want
Reply:550 Administrative prohibition is a very vague description but it can be tied to the following,

- incorrect authentication with smtp server

- remote blacklist

- smtp server rules

- smtp server requires a reverse dns lookup where none is provided

- relaying is not permitted within your network (if your webserver is routing emails to another mail server on your network)

And countless more I am sure.

What is the best wording for emailing someone that we arent making it to their wedding?

im not excatly sure what kind of wording i should use, i have never declined going to a wedding before-
What is the best wording for emailing someone that we arent making it to their wedding?
when you get the invitation you send the reply card back with a 0 on it. you don't need to exoplain it at all. no wording necessary.
Reply:Say that sadly you must decline, congratulate them and wish them all the happiness.
Reply:They spent a lot of money on invitations, so I would buy a thank you card and tell them you appreciate the invitation, but you are sorry to inform them you can not attend on that peticular date. Then go on and let them know you will be thinking of them on their special day even though you can not be there. Blah, blah.........

Very personal and well thought out.
Reply:Just Simply tell them you are very sorry that you cant make the wedding but you wish them both lots of love and happiness.. chances are they will have so much going on that day they wont remeber who was there and who wasnt.. i know i had no clue until i watched the video when i got it back.
Reply:Dear ___________and_____________,

It was so thoughtful of you to invite us to your wedding! Unfortunately, we can't attend because of a previously scheduled conflict. We're so dissapointed that we can't be there, (We've been looking forward to your wedding for the longest time). We give you our best wishes for your wedding!

Much Love,

____________ and ___________

Also, you may want to give these people a card, just to show that you care and that your best wishes really are with them. I wouldn't really reccomend that you e-mail them (versus telling them in the card or in person), it seems a bit impersonal and insesitive. Just looking out for you!! :)

Good Luck! It's nice to see that you're thoughtful enough to make sure the e-mail is worded exactly right as to not hurt their feelings!!
Reply:Just tell them thank you for inviting of you, but unfortunately you won't be able to make it. Wish them good luck, and that's it.
Reply:state; Due to events that are beyond our control,we will have to decline your invitation to your upcoming nuptials. We would like to thank you for your invitation and hope your wedding is all you dream it will be.__

Reply:thank them for invite. tell them u wish you could come but unfortunately wont be able to (you can list reason or not) then tell them when things settle down you would love to spend some time with them and new spouse.
Reply:UMMM... email?

Unless they told you to reply in email- that's tacky.

You should call them in person or write a hand written letter.

It's just more personal.
Reply:"Thank you so much for inviting me to your wedding. Unfortunately, I am unable to come. May your day be blessed and beautiful!"

You don't need to explain why you can't go - just keep it short and simple and be sure to mail your gift!

P.S. It's never a good idea to email your reply - unless the bride specified to do that. Send her a nice card, call her, or send back on the reply card. Email is a last resort when it comes to weddings.
Reply:tell the wedding couple there is a family situation you have to deal with
Reply:email is a bit impersonnal. If it's someone you're close to and you want the party to believe that you want to attend but cannot due to another commitment, then a phone call explaining such would be better than a cold email.

But then of course if you are being invited by someone you don't particularly care about or you think are inviting you to get another gift only, then just send the RSVP card back with a zero in the number attending space...

If you really want to be standoffish then use the email by all means. "I'm sorry I will not be able to attend your wedding, My dog is scheduled to have angioplasty and I must be there for him. Have a great wedding and good luck in the future. Fido sends his regards as well. TTFN"

How do i follow up after emailing my resume..i don't have their phone number PLEASE HELP~?

My problem is i can't find a phone number for a couple of jobs i applied to. I have their email and fax number. But how do i follow up on my resume in this situation? Should i just email them or fax...and what should i ask???

PLEASE HELP!
How do i follow up after emailing my resume..i don't have their phone number PLEASE HELP~?
I am an assistant and our small office just went through a hiring process for a receptionist. We only took resumes by email, and also did not give out a phone number. I understand how frustrating it can be to not have a phone number to contact the company at. The response to our job post was overwhelming, and our office cannot deal with the number of phone calls from applicants and still service our clients, so we did not include a phone number.

Out of 50+ applicants by email, only one sent a second email confirming that we received her resume and cover letter and letting us know that if we had any questions we could contact her. This made a BIG impression, and she was one of the 8 people that we decided to interview, and ended up being one of our top 3.

I would suggest your definitely email them, just to confirm, and make yourself available for an interview, or any follow up questions they may have. Even if you found a telephone nuber, if the company did not puclish it in the job post, do not call. It is disruptive to the business, and they have a good reason not to want to answer calls from applicants. Email is perfect, if that is what the company requested.
Reply:you better find the number, that the only way

We're adopting and would like to share our decision by emailing family and friends. Where can I go for ideas?

Perhaps they know someone that is pregnant and can't keep the child.

Either way we would like to share the great news with friends and family.

Since I am not a great writer I need some ideas on how to put that special email together.

Thanks
We're adopting and would like to share our decision by emailing family and friends. Where can I go for ideas?
If you're asking if you should email family and friends that you have decided to adopt so they can search for an unwanted baby for you, it's really a bad idea for several reasons:

- if you get a baby that way and don't use a lawyer, you might well end up with the birth parent(s) coming back later to take the baby.

- if you find a pregnant mother online and support her to get her baby, you may find up you're just another victim of a con artist. This is a common con... get a bunch of desperate people to give you money and some of these girls aren't really even pregnant.

- you're not sharing your joy that you're about to adopt, you're desperately betting them to find you a baby, which they'll find offensive.

Go to a lawyer or an adoption agency and adopt and you can email your family and friends when you have a commitment that is REAL that a baby is coming into your life soon.

Hi all,

Just thought we'd drop a line to you all, GUESS WHAT we've decided that we're gonna adopt a baby ! Yeah woo hoo and we'd like you to be a part of it by putting out your feelers, and hell why not some wanted ads for us , I mean everyones *doing it* we'd really appreciate you helping us acquire a child...Perhaps you could all come together and do a whip around at the same time, because adoption is bluddy expensive ...Just in case one of you cant pressure any of your unwed young friends that may have recently got pregnant to hand over their child to us...

We're excited , aren't you ? Thanks for being a part of us *acquiring* a baby "

Signed

*I'm unbelievable that I would try and gain a baby by email"
Reply:Wow. Uh. Um. Just...wow. Yuck!

I think the earlier answers explained why this is so WRONG. If you were adopting through foster care, and just wanted to send out an announcement, "hey everybody, we're adding to our family! Please be respectful, and allow us to introduce our children as they become more comfortable with our family. We'll all need a few months to adjust, so don't take it personally if you don't see us much," that would be WAAAAAAAY different.

Sending out an email to solicit for a kid is just sick and wrong. Please do some research on the effect adoption has on adoptees (especially when it's all about you and your desire to acquire a baby, and not an effort to provide a family to a child who needs one) before jumping into this. You've obviously got some serious misconceptions about what adoption is. Adoption should be a way to provide a FAMILY for a child who NEEDS one, not a way to fill your desires. Children shouldn't come into this world with a job (i.e. filling your desires).
Reply:Kim, I am confused as to your question. Are you asking how to tell your family and friends, an email or letter explaining your decision Kinda like a shower invite thing so they know what is going on before the baby or child arrives?

Or are you asking them to keep their ears open for any children that are going to be placed for adoption?
Reply:Like the other answerers, I would recommend going through an adoption agency, but for simply breaking the news, try something like, 'X (husband/partners name) and myself have decided to open our hearts to a child that needs a home. We are adopting. Please feel free to ask anything and we welcome you to be involved in this special time.'
Reply:*bangs head on desk*

Be subtle here, don't go around asking people to help secure you a child. That would just be tacky-tack-tack.

Save the mass email for when you actually become parents. I know I would feel awkward getting an email announcing that an old friend is planning on adoption, hopefully, someday, in the future.
Reply:e-mailing friends and family is not a good thing I was adopted and I knwo for sure my family did not do that at all they talked to them face to face and some family didn't agree and some did I would talk to them but all in all it is your decision to open your hearts and homes to a cihld in need is what is important to you then stand your ground! wish you luck and thanks to you more of us get adopted
Reply:don't use email to adopt a child- go to an adoption agency, foster care, or an adoption attorney.
Reply:normal people do not "EMAIL" for babies. they go through foster care.
Reply:If i may put this in another perspective for you......

Would you send out an email if you were planning on having a biological child? How would you word that?

"Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that "Bob" and i have decided to have a biological child. I've gone off the pill and he's now wearing boxers and not taking hot showers. Please do not call or stop by while i'm ovulating as we will be busy doing adult things.

Would you send out a monthly reminder of when you're ovulating?

I'd hope not. So why would you want to announce your plans of adoption this way? Trust me when i say no one wants to hear of your family building plans until it's time to congratulate.

Close family members and friends should know of your wishes already. They shouldn't need an email reminder of how you plan on building your family.

As for asking them to check around and let you know if anyone might want to place their child with you, that's just not a good idea. No matter if someone else has instructed you to do so.

My suggestion. Sit down with your sig. other. Discuss and learn the different types of adoption. Figure out how to best go about it ethically and legally. This is going to require at least an attorney. Also check into foster care. You can be listed with them as only looking for adoption situations. You do not have to be an actual foster parent. These children need a stable loving home and often there is little to no cost for the process.

If you find foster care is not for you, then find an agency. Find one that ethically works with the mothers. It takes a great deal of education on your part and time in doing the research. Understand that the child is the other mother and father's child until they say you are to be the legal parents. But that they will always be a part of your child. This is about the child and you should always approach it with that understanding.

Sending out an email discussing your family building plans is not one i would advise. There is too much at stake for everyone involved for this to be started in a form type of email.

It seems you are just getting started in the process. So i'm not trying to sound rude. Just that you need to start somewhere else. This is something that will forever affect the mother, the child and you. Starting the process in a group mailed form letter is not the way to go about it.

Once the child has been legally placed with you, then go for it. Send out mailed and emailed announcements. Let everyone know of your new addition.

Have you seen anything like this? What is it and how can I stop them from emailing me?
Once your email address is on a spammers list it is almost impossible to get off. Right now, your e-mail address (along with millions of others) is on a CD being sold from the back rooms of software shops from Bangladesh to Botswanna and from Norway to the Netherlands.

However there are several things that you can do to prevent even more spam.

1. Start by removing your e-mail address from your Yahoo profile,if it is on it. The spam-industry has programs that are continusously crawling the web looking for the "@" symbol which is a sure sign the the word before it and the domain name after it is an e-mail address!

2. Use a longer address. The spam industry uses programs that try sending e-mail to all known domain names. Example: a program might start trying to send out e-mails to everyone starting with aaaaa@INVALID.com and continue down to zzzzz@INVALID.com. Using a longer e-mail address will make this harder to do.

3. Never click the "Unsubscribe Link" in any spam e-mail. This will only confirm to the spammers that your e-mail address is indeed real and that you are reading their garbage. In fact, do not even open any e-mail from anybody you don't know or trust. Many spams are not only annoying but contain viruses of other malware. Just delete 'em without opening 'em!.

You can however click that "Unsubscribe Me" button from businesses that are well known and that you trust. Walmart... yes. Someone selling Viagra...no.

4. Open up a second e-mail account. Whenever, a website requires you to register using your e mail address, use this secondary address. There are many unscrupulous websites that will sell you address to others or bombard you with spam themselves.

5. Download a free copy of SiteAdvisor. SiteAdvisor will alert you when you search (Google, Yahoo, MSN, search only) of websites that are known to send out spam. This can help you avoid registering with any sites that are known to spam people.

In Yahoo mail, how do I make permanent the font size and style I choose when emailing?

When I compose an email, I can change the font style to Times New Roman size three. There must be a way to make these changes permanent, rather than having to change them each time I send an email. True or not?

Go to Mail Options / General / Plain Text Font, then select your font and size choice.

My ex is emailing himself my recent history & files I use on my pc. How can i stop him?

He has probably installed some kind of key-logger or trojan in your pc...You can use an antivirus to scan through your hard-drive to locate that malicious program and delete it.If that doesn't work the best solution is to backup your data and format your hard drive and while you're at it change every single password you may have from e-mail to any site membership.

Reply:It's possible your ex has infected your system with a trojan remote access agent, or a key logger, scan your system and then reset all administrative level passwords. make sure file sharing isnt applied as well.
Reply:Backup your system (all the files you want to keep anyhow) and then do a complete (Full not quick) re-format and re-install. It is likely that he installed a monitoring program such as those that a parent installs to watch their children's' computers. Unless you know how to find it, you're better off re-installing everything and that will wipe out whatever program he may have installed.

Someone is Emailing me saying I am a Beneficiary of 11 million. Dan Musa from the Bank of Nigeria. A Scam?

This guy has been sending me emails, none of which have my name, and he is saying I am the winner of 11 Million dollars. I thought is was a scam so i did not respond. Now he's emailing me saying someone else is claiming to be my representative and is claiming the money, and this is my "Final notification of payment" and to email him asap.

Who is Dan Musa and the Bank of Nigeria is this a total scam or what?
Someone is Emailing me saying I am a Beneficiary of 11 million. Dan Musa from the Bank of Nigeria. A Scam?
This is the classic Nigerian scam! Claiming to be Nigerian officials, businesspeople or the surviving spouses of former government honchos, con artists offer to transfer millions of dollars into your bank account in exchange for a small fee. If you respond to the initial offer, you may receive "official looking" documents. Typically, you're then asked to provide blank letterhead and your bank account numbers, as well as some money to cover transaction and transfer costs and attorney's fees.

You may even be encouraged to travel to Nigeria or a border country to complete the transaction. Sometimes, the fraudsters will produce trunks of dyed or stamped money to verify their claims. Inevitably, though, emergencies come up, requiring more of your money and delaying the "transfer" of funds to your account; in the end, there aren't any profits for you to share, and the scam artist has vanished with your money.

Why would a perfect stranger pick you 鈥?also a perfect stranger 鈥?to share a fortune with, and why would you share your personal or business information, including your bank account numbers or your company letterhead, with someone you don't know?

Usually, the sender does not yet know your personal e-mail address and is depending on you to respond. Once you reply, whether you intend to string them along or tell them you are not interested, they will often continue to e-mail you in an attempt to harass or intimidate you.

If you receive an offer via email from someone claiming to need your help getting money out of Nigeria 鈥?or any other country, for that matter 鈥?forward it to the FTC at spam@uce.gov .
Reply: Yes, this is most likely a scam. At some point they will ask you to send them your routing number and bank account # so they can send you your money. Then they clean out your account. Or they ask you to send them some amount of money to cover processing and transfer fees, blah, blah, blah.

Nigeria is notorious for internet scams.

...anyone from Africa I wouldn't trust. Whoah that was fracked up to say. I'm half african though, bite my head off. Especially Lome Togo, they have NO means of income in those countries and are especially suspect to many e-mail frauds. There isn't much you can do either. Protec yourself from e-mail scams!

Maxwell
Reply:Yes, this is a scam. They are lying to get you to respond and it is working. Wise up or get rid of your computer. Anytime you have "won" a lottery or "inherited" money from an unknown relative, it is a scam.
Reply:Its always a scam when it comes to that. an average of 74.982% of americans with emails get a spam of winning a british lottery each day.
Reply:The whole thing is a scam, all right. Never give out your personal information to total strangers. Just turn around and get this message spammed straight into oblivion-without delay. Don't believe this hype at all.
Reply:YES. they want $400 to mail you the check. If you get the check, it bounces and the bank charges you $30 bouncing fee. [20/20 ABC news]

How come Yahoo answers has stopped emailing me my contacts questions???

For about 2 months now I haven't been emailed. I know that they are from their profiles and whenever I go on I see their questions posted. And yes, I have checked the " edit profile" menu and the " email me when one of my contacts has asked a question" box is checked. Not all of my contacts could have blocked me, as I have quite a few.

Apparently, some users have this problem fixed, for some, there was never this problem and for some like us, it's still intact.

We can only keep our fingers crossed and hope that Yahoo! would fix this before updating this site again.

You'll have to create a new account. The current one you have now can't be changed because of security reasons.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. Suggested cures range from Update Adobe Flash Player and Java script to clear IE7 cache, cookies, and browsing history. Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send receive delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. I have been advised to use this site to view my mail, www.mail2web.com if all else fails go back to classic mail via this link. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/dc/optout?s... click yes when asked do you want to opt out. Emailing a cell phone, how many characters?

I keep in touch with my fiancee using my yahoo mail and sending it to her phone. She's a Cingular user, Razr phone. It would be like this 1(234)5678910@txt.att.net in the "To:" box. Anyway, the question is: If I send her a paragraphs worth of text, will she receive it all? Will it break it apart into separate messages or will it just chop it off when it decides I've used too many? I would simply try it out and ask her but she's asleep and I want to send her something big.

Why can't I send an email to a yahoo user when they use the same computer that I do?
Emailing to yahoo user on same computer?
You should be able to since the email goes through Yahoo and not the computer itself. I sit at my Sister's house and use her computer, sign in on my account and send her a email to her account on her computer. And she gets it. My daughter does the same thing on my computer. So I don't know how you are trying to do it. You didn't specify the problem you are having trying to do it.
Reply:Iam not sure I know what you are talking about? Why are you emailing your computer. Your email program works off your "C" drive. If (2) of you operate the same computer---why are you trying to email that person. Just tell him/her what you want. If you have more details and want to contact me that would be fine. Email is bascally sending or receiving from your computer to receiving/sending to a different computer.

Yahoo mail Question: can I block someone from emailing me?

I get the same stupid email from some companies and they don't have an "unsubscribe" link. I ask them to remove be but it doesn't work.

How can I block someone?
Yahoo mail Question: can I block someone from emailing me?
For New Yahoo Mail:

Go to options -%26gt; mail options -%26gt; spam -%26gt; type the unwanted email address under add a blocked address -%26gt; click add -%26gt; click "save changes".

For Mail Classic

Go to "mail options" in the top bar -%26gt; management -%26gt; block addresses -%26gt; under "add block" enter the email address you want to be blocked. Click "add block", click "yes" to set the block.
Reply:Yes, click the Options button on the right. You will see Block Addresses and click that, to put the mailer's address. Copy and paste is the easiest way, and then the mail will automatically be blocked. You can always choose to unblock it.

If you're not sure you want to completely block the emails, another idea would be to create a folder and then have Yahoo automatically place the particular email in your folder.

Click Filters, then you can give it a name, then you can look at the rules to see the details for your filters.

Can I get pictures from my verizon phone onto my computer without any cord or emailing through my phone?

can I go to the website, get them somehow?

thanks to anyone who knows anything.

Can I get pictures from my verizon phone onto my computer without any cord or emailing through my phone?
if ur phone has a memory card of some sort stick it in ur computer
Reply:The only thing I can think of is if you have bluetooth and you send it to another phone that has a cord. OR if you have a removable memory card and you can save the picture on the card and then put the card in your computer. However, if you can't do either of these, then there is no way. You have to send it or buy the appropriate package of cable and programs.
Reply:You can send them to your online verizon album that can be accessed through vzw.com You can also bluetooth them to your computer if you have it on your computer. If the pics are on a memory card, you can take the card out (you will need a card reader on your computer) and just drag and drop them onto your computer
Reply:buy a micro sd card

How do I make Yahoo mail my default for emailing pages to other people?

Set Internet Explorer or Firefox to open a Yahoo! Mail Compose window if you click an email link on a web page. Email links appear all over the place – contact us links, feedback links, peoples’ underlined names. So, what email program opens when you click links like these? Make it Yahoo! Mail!

Here’s how to set your PC, running either Internet Explorer or Firefox, to open your account’s Compose window when you click an email link on a web page. There’s not an official version for the Mac - yet.

PC -- Internet Explorer or Firefox

1.From the “Start” pop-up menu in the lower left corner of your desktop, select “Settings” %26gt; “Control Panel”.

2.In the Control Panel, select “Internet Options”. This opens the “Internet Properties” window.

3.Click the “Programs” tab along the top.

4.Click the “E-mail” pull-down menu, and select Yahoo! Mail*

Click OK.

*Are you not seeing Yahoo! Mail in your list of E-mail programs? Download Yahoo! Messenger. It’s easy, it’s quick, and it puts Yahoo! Mail in your E-mail application list.

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya...

You can download Yahoo! Messenger here:

http://messenger.yahoo.com/

If you already have Yahoo! Messenger, re-install it. If you don't want Yahoo! Messenger and uninstall it, it should leave Yahoo! Mail in the list of email options.

How do I find someone by email address? (Someone emailing my daughter).?

Someone is anonymously emailing my young daughter, claiming to be a school classmate. All I have is their yahoo email address. How can I find who is doing this?
How do I find someone by email address? (Someone emailing my daughter).?
You probably can't, and if this person is using a Yahoo! account, he or she is very unlikely to have provided much information to Yahoo! either. About all you can do is forward the message, with full headers, to Yahoo!, so they can tell you how they can help.
Reply:If it is malicious or illegal in nature, call the police. They can get the info used to signup for the yahoo address direct from yahoo. You want to give them a contact number for yahoo in case the detective isn't very computer literate.

If it is much less serious, get a new free email address like yahoo and send them a message. Keep yourself anonymous. Tell them you are "haley's" or whatever your child's first name is, parent and you are checking that they are who they say they are. Ask for their phone number and call it to see if they are who they say they are.

If you find it is bogus, use the filters in your email software (even yahoo does it) to send their messages to the trash automatically.

Good Luck!
Reply:I would type it into google search, the whole email, with the @yahoo.com. If that comes up with nothing, get on Myspace.com to see if the person has one of those because millions have them. You can do searches on myspace with the email and you might find the person on there. good luck.
Reply:All Internet carriers have a way for you to block emails from certain addresses that you choose. That might be your only bet. If the emails become threatening or slimy. Contact yahoo and go to online help with your provider for more assistance. They can suspend accounts. Ck out FAQ on your providers home page also try to search: threatening emails 2005, email threats, threatening emails
Reply:Call the police, say its not an emergency. they always no what to do
Reply:Go to the federal bureau of investigation site..they have a form for that ..
Reply:Use spy software.

Can you block a yahoo email account from emailing you??

I have an email account with yahoo and this woman keeps emailing me alot and I want to block her from emailing me anymore. Is it possible to do that? and how?
Can you block a yahoo email account from emailing you??
Yes you can block her or anyone else. From your mail screen over to the right click Options, then click Mail Options. Next page over to the left click Block Addresses. Add the email address to the box and click Add address. Then top or bottom left click Save. You can remove addresses any time you want. The person blocked will never know you blocked them. They do not get the email back.
Reply:You can use the spam button on her email, then it will go to your bulk folder with all the other junk emails, and you can delete it without even having to see that she sent you anything.

How do i get my aunt to stop emailing me?

my aunt emails me and not my sister, only becaue im the only one who has (to be polite) for the past years.

ive been trying to distance myself from my relatives, because they are nosy and judgemental...

ive tried ignoring her emails, but she always writes about stuff i dont care about..and small talk.. and i HATE small talk!

what will make her stop?
How do i get my aunt to stop emailing me?
Stop responding as often, and when she asks why you haven't responded, tell her that you're not using e-mail as often as normal, or that you've been busy. She isn't owed any explanation, you're not obligated to write her as often as she writes you.
Reply:haha my aunt does the same thing every single day asking me the same stuff like how are u what are u doing what did u do today every single freakin day but shes helping me out with my money n actually caring about me if ur aunt isnt helping u out with anything i would just ignore the emails or block her address
Reply:Yes block her and she'll get the message. It's a pretty cold thing to do to your aunt. But if you don't want contact with her, you'll have to tell her. What a shame she thinks you care.
Reply:You can block her and tell her your email is messed up. Don't give her a timeframe for it to be fixed and after 4/1 tell her you got hit by the Conficker worm...
Reply:So tell her how ya feel and if that does not work, just block her. It is not worth getting angy and upset over. Family members are supposed to annoy you.
Reply:put up a blocker to block all messages from her or mark her email address as 'spam'

Should a student emailing a teacher (anonymously) be against the rules?

Answer yes or no, and why, please. (At this time of day I am VeRy curious...)
Should a student emailing a teacher (anonymously) be against the rules?
Haha...no.

What is the problem with emailing a teacher? As I see it, it's just like having a conversation with a teacher in a classroom. When was having a conversation with a teacher wrong?

Everyone is flesh and blood. Even a teacher. People need to get over their "taboo" crap. It's ridiculous.
Reply:In general, I would say no. I think that if a student is afraid to ask for help on a problem, thinking that asking for help is a sign of weakness, then that student should be able to ask anonymously. Or if a student needs to report that a friend of his/hers was cheating, or was planning a shooting rampage, or something along those lines, allowing students to email anonymously might encourage a good flow of information which could protect other students.

On the other hand, I would not think that students, either anonymously or with identification, should be able to email rude comments, threats, or things of that sort to the teacher. It is not the anonymity of the email that would be the problem, though, but the content.
Reply:It depends on what the student is emailing. If the student is emailing threats he/she could be expelled. Other than that there is no rule (unless your school has said NO to this practice.) If the teacher is emailing back to the student, they have to be careful because emails are hard to erase after they have been sent.
Reply:if it's bad, then yes, it should be against the rules, but since I know you and know you'd never do that then no it shouldn't.
Reply:I would tend to question any message or communication in which a person does not want to identify themselves.
Reply:For me, there is always something sus about a message that you do not want to own.

Is Yahoo, emailing account holders to verify password DOB and phone number got suspicious email from them.?

Is Yahoo, emailing account holders to verify password DOB and phone number got suspicious email from them.?
DO NOT reply. This is a phishing scam attempting to get you to give them all your personal info. It's not from Yahoo, just delete it and ignore it. Good luck and be careful.
Reply:It's a scam. Yahoo! would never request personal information in an unsolicited email. If someone of the opposite sex keeps emailing you flirty emails, and your not interested, should you reply?

Ignore them, and hope they'll go away , or email them back saying your flattered but no thanks?
If someone of the opposite sex keeps emailing you flirty emails, and your not interested, should you reply?
Don't reply it makes them think you are interested...
Reply:No. I wouldn't like that.

If you have such type problem, then SPAM his/her id.
Reply:Make your self invisible to that person
Reply:Lying is not the answer. A polite but firm "No thanks" usually does the trick. If he's too persistent and sees rejection as encouragement to keep trying rather than as discouragement, THEN you can tell him you're going to report him for sexual harassment.
Reply:Just email them back lying and saying you are interested in the same sex and hopefully that will deter that person from emailing back. I suppose you could just block emails coming from that person anyways.
Reply:ha...out of respect, tell them your not interested and put them on your block/black (lycos) list.
Reply:only If you want them to.
Reply:Be friendly, but decline. Only be rude and ignore the person if they get scary-obsessed.
Reply:letting them know would definately be nice. But some people can't take no so you'd have to be careful. I would tell him once if it persists than ignore them.
Reply:Reply politely with a cc to a bogus coverment or police mail adres, make something up like: fbi-abusereporter@gov.com or something, or FatBrutus@hellsangels.com, tony@themobb.com etc..

Reply:if u have yahoo

u can select his emails and

mark them as spam
Reply:Yes you can block him or report as junk mail.
Reply:Above your email Inbox, there is a 'Spam' button. Put a check mark (or simply click) in the little box next to the email that was sent to you. That little check box is on the left of the sender's name. After you click in that box, a check mark will appear. Then, simply click on the 'Spam' button and that will block the address. Whenever you want to block anyone from sending you email, including 'Spammers', simply click in that box beside the sender's name, then click on 'Spam'. Hope this helps.

How do I find out who is emailing me?

Someone keeps emailing me from an address I don't know. He seems to know me and has managed to get into my account has read %26amp; misinterpreted my emails to a friend %26amp; is now threatening to tell my bf about them. There's nothng to tell %26amp; my bf knows, but it's really annoying %26amp; slightly worrying! Is there anyway I can find out the name of the account holder?
How do I find out who is emailing me?
Best thing to do is is probably change your password, but to know who the e-mail is from why not try to turn the tables on the unknown e-mailer. Try this firstly change your password, then make sure you have the e-mail address of the unknown e-mailer you could to two things now, you could complain to the service provider eg yahoo, hotmail etc. And tell them what has been going on or you could play with the unknown e-mailers mind. Create a new e-mail address and turn the table on them if you want or you could simply change your password its up to you but I would turn the tables and then change the password.

PS. What were the e-mails in your inbox about anyway?
Reply:you could change your emale address
Reply:You should write all your contacts down, and delete your account. Start a new account... that way the person who is doing this terrible thing to you will stop.
Reply:I don't think you can find out unless you pay some detective money. Just change you email address.
Reply:Someone has guessed your password. Or you have told it to someone.

Go to your email address where this person is reading from and CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD right now.
Reply:If someone has got into your account I would change my password. If someone was harrassing me with E-mails and I didn't know who they were from I would contact the supplier...i.e. if the E-mail address was from Hotmail I would contact Hotmail, Yahoo, Yahoo...etc.

You should also be able to block their E-mail address or spam them

How can i get companies to stop emailing me?

sometimes i sign up for emails and then end up not reading them. how can i get the emails to stop?
How can i get companies to stop emailing me?
Sign into your Yahoo Mail account, from your inbox, you'll see a link that says "Options"...it's in the right hand corner, just above your inbox. Click it.

A whole list of options is gonna come up, click "block addresses". When the page loads, type in the domain name (like flixster.com). Do not type in an email address. Just type in the domain name and you won't get any more emails from that particular domain. Of course, if you change your mind later, just go back and click "remove block". Hope that helps you! :-)

Is emailing the URL the best way to send Info? What are the pitfalls?

Generally speaking, emailing a URL is just fine. However, if you are visiting sites of questionable security, you could be putting your recipient at risk if their computer doesn't have the right protections.

One thing to be careful of is links that say they are for one thing but go to a different site. This is a common tactic used for phishing scams.

When emailing a group how do I edit the group addresses for that email only?

For example if I get an email from a group member and I want to forward it to the rest of the group but not the group member I just received it from, how do I do that?
When emailing a group how do I edit the group addresses for that email only?
i don't believe you would have that option. You could post it as a special notice so more members would receive it but that would also include the member who sent it to you. Ordinary members cannot use the special notice option.

Is it ethically correct to block soldiers on active duty from blogging or emailing home? Why?

Is there any truth to the recent rumours that a surge in soldiers' protests on their conditions and the Iraq war in general have led the Pentagon to recently ban blogs and censor private emails?

I do find significant concern over the significance of such gestures as well as the possible ramifications of such potentially abusive actions from up-high but would like to hear your take on it.
Is it ethically correct to block soldiers on active duty from blogging or emailing home? Why?
should americans who started the whole mess start talking of ethics....................... i think not
Reply:I am surprised that this was chosen as a best answer... There were far more valid answers on both sides of the fence.

Still... congratulations.

Thanks go to all answerers who provided food for thought. Report Abuse

Reply:Well first off no one has banned or blocked my blog but let me explain the ethics.

It is most definitely ethical to ban the Soldiers, and ill tell you why. When a person in uniform says something it is immediately associated with the office in which the person is service so if you see a Soldier who says the Chow were he lives sucks most assume Army Chow sucks. When Soldiers make statements it is often misleading but considered almost official statements from the general public. This is not Vietnam (on the home front) the American people have not abandoned us i have always felt respect from the citizens and because of that abusing that authority to serve a personal agenda is ethically wrong. Doing so is just as wrong as a Senator pushing a state contract for a kick back its abuse of authority. Secondly often times when these bogs are blocked it is because they were releasing sensitive information and when you do that in the Military people get killed...our mistakes fit into black vinyl body bags don鈥檛 forget that.
Reply:Huh? Yes it's ethically correct, the military has censored every form of communication to home since the time of Washington. It's standard procedure so to keep military secrets, well secret. But secrets arent the only thing the military censors for, it censors for moral as well. If say an outpost hasnt had the greatest month and they arent monitored they could bring down an entire districts moral and have a trickle up effect lowering the moral over all and therefore hurting the military's ability to function at it's best.
Reply:I would agree with the government blocking them because with every post comes the danger of leaking possible sensitive information. So it's either block it or maybe have some sort of censor to read and make sure what is being submitted is safe for public eyes.
Reply:You're beating a dead horse. The ban is on the use of Military computers to access sites like myspace, facebook, youtube, etc etc. This ban is nothing new. All military internet systems and computers are under control of the military. They are for official use only, not personal blogs and emails. The military provides computers via MWR that can be used to send and recieve personal email, as well as use chat programs such as skype, yahoomessenger, aol messenger. If you're so concerned abou it, there is a program to send troops laptops, donate and send a laptop to a soldier. Also try donating to one of the other programs out there that support our troops.
Reply:During WWII, personal letters mailed back home to families and friends were censored, where actually large blocks of information was blacked out, usually tidbits that could have given enemy agents war planning info if letters were lost or fell into enemy hands. The same goes today with emails. It's easy to have computer systems tapped into. War info could easily fall into wrong hands. It is ethically correct to censor mail if the overall operations are at stake, which also would possibly cost the lives of men and women.
Reply:No.

Just for their own safety while out there.

Be wise not to play computer games while out there.

Try writing letters and licking stamps.

Will find how you really miss your loved ones.

Like the good old days.
Reply:yeap. PERSEC, OPSEC and National Security. There is also the little matter of the UCMJ..which prohibits personnel in uniform to take a political stand one way or the other regarding Government officials and leaders.

One bad egg ruins it for everyone.
Reply:They should be blocked. Keep a journal post it later like after the connflict. It is bad enough that the media puts out information/details that the insurgents can use to kill soldiers/marines/saliors/airmen. It only hurts the safety of our military.
Reply:Absolutely no truth to the rumor. Ethically correct, yes.

Two main reasons for the 'ban', first is operational security (opsec) and second is bandwidth.

There has been increasing incidences of opsec violations, not good.

There is limited bandwidth available in theater that must be dedicated to operational needs.

If it is that important, write a letter.

It is a little bit sad that some think that it is 'vital' to have 'connectivity' back home.

It is a convenience and an 'extra'.
Reply:I have'nt heard these rumors, as of late but I would definately understand if there were true. Some troops are seeing and doing things that don't need to be leaked to the press, or the enemy, for that matter. There are ways to track someone's emails and retrieve info or intel from them. Also, their families don't need to know about a lot of the harshness of their deployment. If my spouse had to shoot a young kid because he was a suicide bomber, I wouldn't want to read about that in an email! If he saw someone die in front of him, I wouldn't want to read that either. The families left behind are also going through their own hell and those things would only add to that!
Reply:NO ITS FOR SECURITY REASONS A COMPLAINING SOLDIER IS BAD FOR MILITARY MORALE AND LOW MORALE CAN BE A THREAT TO SECURITY THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A WAR WERE TROOPS DID NOT COMPLAIN OR DESERT BECAUSE OF "BAD CONDITIONS" CAN THER BE" GOOD CONDITIONS"? IN WAR

IF YOU JOIN THE MILITARY DON'T BE SURPRISED IF YOU HAVE TO FIGHT OR FACE STRESSFUL SITUATIONS

THAT'S WHY WE ARE CALLED SOLDIERS NOT CIVILIANS
Reply:Of course--some people just don't know how to keep their mouths shut, and they know other people who can't shut up either. So when some dingdong posts on the internet locations, times, people----that puts others in danger! It's a no-brainer, really.

I get onto my wives all the time about OPSEC and PERSEC---the reason is to keep everyone safe!!
Reply:Here's the scoop!!!

When you are in the military - and especially in a war zone - you do exactly as you are told when you are told to do it. Ethics doesn't enter into the equation. It is not college where you can protest.

My understanding is that they have put a stop to cell phone photos too.

They stopped the blogs and emails because soldiers may inadvertently write information concerning troop location, weaponry, tactical plans that could make it's way into enemy hands. Before computers, the military censored incoming and outgoing mail in a war situation.

The commanders are not being abusive or mean, they are protecting all of the soldiers and sailors and others in the field.
Reply:There is no truth to these rumors you stated. I should know because I'm typing this while sitting in Iraq as a deployed Soldier.

And yes, it is ethically correct to censor emails and blogs as you put it. It is called Operational Security (OPSEC). Any information the enemy could use against Coalition Forces needs to be censored. Your "right" to email friends back home does not include the "right" to disclose information that could get someone killed. I will gladly go the entire 15 month tour here without writing one scrap back home if I know that I could save a life by doing so. My personnel well being is second to that of the welfare of my fellow Soldiers, Marines, Airman, and Sailors serving over here with me.

We in the military willingly embrace the idea of selfless sacrifice. This idea, unfortunately, is not something many civilians can understand.
Reply:I am also unsure about the truth of the matter but I would like to share my take on the matter if it is true. That is simply that the blocking of communication is one of the primary stages of a corrupt government and it also suggests that the government has something they want to hide (which was obvious from the start anyway)
Reply:Soldiers present an interesting case where constitutional rights are concerned. While most people enjoy certain rights and protections simply for being citizens, soldiers often have their rights limited or outright suspended due to the nature of their job. The irony is that their job is often to defend these very same rights for other citizens. You can see obvious cases where a soldiers rights must take a backseat to operational realities. If a soldier has a blog for instance and details the patrol patterns of their unit then this blog must be censored because these patrols could be ambushed or avoided by the enemy. If a soldier wants to exercise free speech about their superiors then what they say can effect moral and discipline. Since the pentagon already has the authority and need to curtail a soldiers rights of free speech its difficult to say at what point they are being abusive with that authority. Sometimes it is more practical, simple and fair to simply say that soldiers can't have blogs or send emails in certain situations then to deal with each blog or e-mail case by case.

The job of soldiers is to defend the lives of citizens and to further our interest abroad. To do this job they cannot possibly enjoy all the same rights they are defending. Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness are not necessarily rights for soldiers. A soldiers law is the U.C.M.J. and the orders of their superiors.
Reply:These Blogs are security liabilities. For information assurance purposes they are blocked. If there is a death or casualty here, the news should not be spread over the net through blogs by someone who doesn't actually know the true about the tragedy. Instead the proper steps are taken to notify to correct officials and family members of the incident before the stories get warped.
Reply:No. How would you like it if you couldn't tell your family the reality of the situation wherever you are? I agree the location should be kept private for naitonal security reasons but preventing the soldier from communicating with his family would lessen his morale and he'd lose the will to fight because his family desperately wants to hear from him but he can't do it or he'd break a stupid rule. Our military is already strung out too far and preventing them from communicating with family while overseas would weaken it even more
