How can present communication methods(emailing and instant messaging) lead to poorer communication?
You only have to do is look at the content of many questions on this site to see a major problem. Very few people are skilled when it comes to written communications.
People tend to make emails and IM's very terse and thereby leave out potentially important information. Replies have the same problem.
I also agree that the emotional aspect of the communication that comes from face to face conservations is a great loss. You have very little feed back to tell you if you are "getting across" to the person you are trying to communicate with.
Reply:i find it's sometimes hard to convey tone of voice/emotion in this type of medium.
sometimes people can interpret your message in a completely different way than you had originally intended.
